Travelling through Montenegro was an incredible experience. If you haven’t heard of it, it is a small country in the Balkans between Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia and Albania.
If you have heard of it, then you likely know about its beautiful coastline and the old town of Kotor with its impressive bay. But what I wanted to know was, what is hiding in the Mountains of this rugged country. In my opinion, taking a car hire in Montenegro is essential to truly explore the beauty of this country.
Turn the music up and take a two-minute video tour of Montenegro, I’m pretty sure it is about to make it on to your bucket-list…
There were so many amazing stops on our Montenegro Road Trip that cutting the video down to two minutes was a toughie.
Two of my favourite places from the Montenegro Travel Video deserve a special mention.
Durmitor National park is full of black mountains towering into the clouds which you can literally drive through on a small winding road. This is a nature lovers dream, and hiking in Durmitor national park is a great way to experience the natural landscape this country offers.

Piva Canyon and River was the breathtaking blue waters, waterfalls and gushing streams that can also be found in the north of the country.
If there are two places you visit in this country then both Durmitor and Piva come at the top of the list for me (Yep, even more than Kotor or the coastline).
LET ME SEND YOU MY BEST BALKANS TIPS…
If you have any questions about travelling through Montenegro either on a road trip or not feel free to put them in the comments and I will try my best to answer. It’s a country that isn’t as well explored as other parts of Europe and I know when I was planning the trip I struggled to find all the answers so I just gave up planning and jumped in the car :)

Huge thanks to Auto Europe for providing the car to explore Montenegro. We also used them off our own back for the rest of the Balkans as they search both the international and local suppliers to find great prices – well worthy of being your first port of call to book your car for a Road Trip.
