“Laid-back luxury with local personality” – Asimina Suites Paphos Review

While I’m still a twenty-something backpacker at heart, I’m not ashamed to admit that these days, physically in my thirties, I like a little luxury on occasion. The most recent case in point was Constantinou Bros Asimina Suites. I had the pleasure of calling this gorgeous hotel just outside Paphos, Cyprus, a temporary home during a brief convention visit to the city.

First-in during their soft-reopening following extensive restoration works – a whole new floor of suites and a rooftop bar were added – I found myself instantly soothed into holiday serenity by the near-constant soundtrack of trickling water that echoes around the spacious, sea-view resort.

From the exclusive check-in lounge where a glass of fizz eases the formalities, to the top-notch service by chefs and servers that you’ll soon know by name, the five-star, all-suites Asimina exemplifies laid-back luxury with local personality. Many of the staff have been with the company for decades, and it shows. Plus, you can’t get more family-run than a hotel that’s named after the owner’s wife, and a sister property titled for his mother. Here’s what had me smitten with Asimina Suites. 

The Highlights: Why Pick Asimina Suites Paphos?

• The adult-only resort is open from spring through autumn, ensuring not just a more peaceful stay, but an annual renovation period to keep everything shiny. 
• It’s under 15 minutes from Paphos Airport, overlooks the sea with a private sandy beach, and is a short bus/taxi or coastal stroll into town.
• My tip? Request a room on the right-hand side building – the balconies get the morning sun.
• All rooms are suites, but the Executive Suites include a range of perks including private pools, airport lounge access and transfers, and elevated dining options.
• B&B, weekly prices from £1319pp for two sharing a Junior Suite

Location: “The beachfront walk into town is a breezy delight”

Set towards the end of a string of beach-facing resorts in one of Europe’s best beach destinations, Asimina Suites is just a 15-minute drive from the airport. Its location at the far end of the boulevard keeps it quiet and private. Only one other property, its sister resort, is further south; beyond, a small Greek, blue-doomed chapel and a stretch of undeveloped coastal land. Unlike some of Paphos’ other resorts, Asimina Suites own the sea-facing land immediately in front, meaning the sandy beach with cabanas, and a walkway across the rocks to plunge into the sea, feel far more exclusive. Breakwaters around the bay keep the water calm and safe for swimming. 

Getting into Paphos itself is an easy taxi or bus ride. The beachfront walk into town is a breezy delight – heading to Paphos’ harbour on foot takes around 30 minutes on the path that passes in front of other resorts. While nearly everything you could need can be found in the resort, there are several small shops, bars and restaurants nearby along the inland road, including a car rental. 

Service: “You can feel the family values from the whole team”

The resort offers various classes and inclusions, ranging from standard B&B buffet to half-board, all-inclusive (with or without drinks) and VIP Executive Suites with à la carte meals and private bell-service cabanas built in. So, do pay attention when booking to secure your preference.

Still, Asimina Suites’ service is excellent no matter your type of booking. You can feel the family values from the whole team, and after speaking to any of the staff, it becomes evident why so many have worked with the Constantinou Bros family for years. In my pre-travel-writing life, I was a restaurant manager, and so when I stay in a hotel with such high staff retention, I know they are doing more than something right. 

Design: “The manicured grounds and soundtrack of water set the scene”

It’s fair to say that from the main road, Asimina Suites hides its design and features. Yet once you step inside, the architecture and separate areas of the somewhat imposing building win you over. The entrance lobby, with its wide glass front framing the pool and gentle waves below, is grand and reminded me a little of Bali’s best resorts. From this central atrium, the building has two sections, pointed towards the sea in a V-shape. Yet the different spaces provide diverse corners to hide away. 

The VIP’s Bar has a more classic vibe, with plush seating and low tables, leading out to a lovely, large terrace. The rooftop bar has clean lines and soft-wood furnishings. Suites are soft, natural and homely with view-framing windows and balconies, marble bathrooms and modern touches, while the spa and indoor pool area are far more intimate and dimly lit than the ample outside swimming spaces. It’s not a design-forward hotel by any stretch. But it is quality comfy-luxe, homely and well-kept. 

The Rooms: “Being an all-suite hotel, there’s no FOMO”

I was lucky enough to be assigned a room on the brand new fifth floor. While these suites are near-identical in design to the floors below – besides the ground-floor private pool suites – the slightly higher setting affords even greater views across the palms to the Mediterranean Sea. 

For me, this is what made the hotel so special. I spent every morning lingering on the balcony with my coffee from the in-room machine before breakfast, listening to tweeting birds and the sounds of water. The upgrade from land-view to sea-view is a must in my opinion, though being an all-suite hotel, there’s no FOMO or any missing features. 

The rooms are separated into two main spaces by sliding doors, with both exiting to a spacious balcony. On entering, there’s an area with the minibar, storage and a large desk and table area; behind, a plush sofa, coffee table and TV. There’s more than enough room for two people to relax and enjoy their own downtime. The bedroom has plenty of storage space and enough room to unpack and walk around with ease; the bed itself has high-quality linen and a comfortable topper. Bathrooms have twin sinks, marble walls, and a walk-in shower and, in some suites, an additional bath. 

Food & Drinks: “Cypriots eat might well, but Asimina’s guests feast”

With four restaurants, three bars, a fetching, brand new rooftop terrace bar, and 24-hour room service, there’s enough choice and diversity in the resort even if you don’t dine out. Different packages define whether you have only the (excellent) buffet or à la carte (reservations required) – from Half Board, you’re allowed to dine in any restaurant.

Regardless of where you dine, I promise you this: Cypriots might eat well, but Asimina’s guests feast. Estia, the main buffet restaurant, is where meals, including the lavish breakfast spread, are served. Honestly, the selection puts most buffets to shame. I was particularly pleased to see the Cypriot table, laden with typical pastries, cheeses, jams, carob syrup, and other treats, but the vast selection will take your taste buds around the world. Full meals here are equally as diverse, with stations spanning everything from Asian-fusion dishes to roast meats, endless salad options, and abundant desserts. The neighbouring Pool Bar and Restaurant is fab for a light lunch, while the named A La Carte Restaurant offers more bespoke options.

Still, my favourite place to dine was Kymata Restaurant. Set on a shaded wooded deck at the far side of the resort, with the sea sparkling a stone’s throw away, the setting is truly divine, especially in the low light of the evening with the water glistening. The dishes here are first-class, with high-quality fresh ingredients, and evenings sometimes include traditional entertainment, such as Cypriot dancing, and all-local menus. 

New for 2026, St Andrews Rooftop Bar is the perfect place for a sundowner – perhaps with some smooth live saxophone playing. Above the new fifth floor, the relaxed space has impeccable views, expertly mixed cocktails, and for the non-drinkers, sweet, freshly pressed orange juice. For a post-dinner cocktail or nightcap, VIP’s Bar often has live entertainment, and there’s also a more relaxed space with a pool table and TVs showing any big games. Asimina Suites is a homely kind of luxury, rather than being pretentious. 

Facilities: “Somehow, the unexpected art classes become as appealing as the pool” 

Alongside the two large outdoor pools, Asimina Suites has a heated indoor pool, the Elixir Spa, offering a range of therapeutic and thalassotherapy treatments alongside saunas and steam rooms, and a decent gym room with both cardio and strength equipment. Other activities include a tennis court, while Asmina’s nearby sister property has bowling greens (indoor and outdoor) which can also be booked. 

Asmina Suites also offers a curated selection of experiences in the hotel, and somehow, the unexpected art classes become as appealing as the pool. Check the daily listings for activities, which might include wine and painting workshops, aqua aerobics and live music evenings. There’s also a salon and on-site minimarket selling gifts, holiday basics like sunscreen, and snacks and drinks. Still, you’ll want to spare at least a couple of days to get out and explore more of Cyprus.
